For years couples have been flocking to Maine barn wedding venues as their backdrop for their Maine wedding. They have a rustic charm and quaintness that you just can’t get from traditional hotel ballroom venues.
As a Maine elopement and wedding photographer, I’ve seen my fair share of Maine barn wedding venues. I’ve seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. So, with their ever growing popularity, I wanted to make a list of my top 5 favorite Maine barn wedding venues to make your search a little easier.
This list of Maine barn wedding venues is through the eyes of a photographer. So I’ve taken into account how much natural light they have, how they photograph, and the overall vibe of the location.
South Berwick
I love this venue because it gives you that classic, rustic feel but a little more elevated. The inside feels rustic but elegant with views of their beautifully landscaped grounds. This venue has a stone fireplace, all weather veranda, and a getting ready suite. It’s an elegant twist on a barn wedding.
Standish
If you want a rustic feel but want it to be absolutely luxurious– this is the venue for you! A truly elegant and luxurious venue with stone walls, weathered wooden beams, and beautiful stone patio for cocktail hour. This venue is a dream come true.
Norway
If you’re looking for a Maine Barn Wedding venue with mountain views, consider Granite Ridge Estate and Barn. Located in Norway, Maine, this venue has amazing views of mountains in the distance and it is truly stunning. The Barn has light colored pine walls and beams with giant windows facing the mountains. All of the natural light will make your photographer a little happy dance.
Buxton
Flanagan Farm has a beautiful, classic barn. It has darker wooden beams and floors along with beautiful chandeliers to light up your reception. The grounds have pastures, an orchard, fire pit, stone patio, a cocktail barn, and a grove of trees to get married in for your ceremony. Flanagan farm also has the most AMAZING farmhouse for you and your wedding party to get ready and relax in. Seriously, it’s stunning. The bright & sophisticated decor and natural light in the farmhouse are a photographer’s dream.
Pittston
This Maine wedding barn venue is hard to beat. The stand alone barn is stunning– it is very well maintained and feels almost “new” on the inside. The walls are a light pine color with dark, stunning floors. The Maine barn wedding venue also has a beautiful farm house that is wonderfully decorated. It is nice and bright on the inside and has a wonderful “modern farmhouse” feel. The ceremony site of this venue is one of my favorites– the ceremony site is situated among their oak grove and has views of rolling fields.
There are so many Maine barn wedding venues to choose from, so picking the right one can feel a bit daunting. I hope this list of my top 5 favorites give you a good starting point for your search for your Maine barn wedding venue.
As a Maine intimate wedding photographer I’ve seen my fair share of venues. My top tips are 1) consider how much natural light is in getting ready areas (look for lots of windows!), 2) try to see where the sun sets in relation to your ceremony space, 3) make sure you LOVE the vibe of the venue!
